What is my purpose? The age old question that everyone in life asks themselves at some point and time. Why am I here? What is my assignment? What am I going to do in life? Most of the time the answer to that question is very clear. However, the INABILITY to let go of our own desires and plans, often times blocks the ABILITY to let Gods plans come into action. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” In this verse, we clearly see that God is telling us HE has plans. He has plans to prosper you and to give you hope and a future. There is no better feeling on this earth than to know that our God has plans for us. BUT, this brings me back to my point, our plans often lead us away from Gods plans. As a man, there are lots of things in this life that we have to deal with on a daily basis. Am I a good husband? Am I good father? Am I fulfilling my duties as the spiritual leader of my family? I remember growing up and asking similar questions as a young man. When will I get married? What will my career be? What is my purpose in this life? Those are all questions that once we align ourselves and TRUST Gods plans and Gods purpose, then can we confidently answer those questions with ease.
Proverbs 3: 5-6 says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." It all really comes down to submitting to Him and trusting His Word. These verses remind us that even if we feel lost, out of place, or unsure of what the future holds, the author of our story and our journey ultimately holds the pen to the paper. God's plans do not always happen quickly. When things don’t go our way, we question if God is truly at work. I encourage you to seek God and align your self to His plans and put aside your plans. Dive into His Word and allow the Holy Spirit to enter into your life. Trust the process and remember when you truly seek His purpose for your life, you WILL find it!
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13
